The DOC’s ECI program was initiated in 2007 and was called the Young Investigator’s Symposium (YIS). The program recognizes scientists who are no more than 10 years from graduate school or post-doctoral appointment and are a current researcher in a non-academic setting (e.g. industry, government or non-profit laboratory) who have demonstrated outstanding promise for future contributions to Organic Chemistry. The program has now recognized the work of nearly 250 individuals. All previous awardees for this program are available on the ECI History page.

The MCI program was started in 2021 to recognize scientists who are more than 10 years from graduate school or post-doctoral appointment and are a current researcher in a non-academic setting (e.g. industry, government or non-profit laboratory) who have demonstrated sustained excellence in Organic Chemistry. With the 2023 awardees, the program has recognized 40 individuals. All previous awardees are available at the MCI History page
