Process for submitting Symposium Proposals for the ORGN division

  • Proposals for symposia can be submitted by any individual desiring to do so.
  • Proposals for symposia are reviewed by the Division of Organic Chemistry Executive Committee at every National Meeting, typically review takes place 1-2 years prior to the actual meeting due to the overlap of the presentation of symposium proposals at the National Meetings with the Call for Papers in C&E News and the scheduling in OASYS for the next meeting.
  • When reviewing symposia, the Executive Committee:
    1. Makes decisions as to the number of sessions and funding provided
    2. Makes decisions about ORGN cosponsorship with funding of symposia scheduled by other divisions

Proposals should consist of the following

  • One-page description of the symposium
  • Preferred National Meeting for symposium
  • Name(s) of organizer(s)
  • List of speakers; it is not necessary at this time for the speakers to have accepted
  • Number of sessions requested [Note: it is not always possible to meet all requests]
  • Additional funding outside the ACS that is being considered or obtained
